Meleek Thomas’s path to the NBA began at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Pittsburgh, where he developed into one of the most coveted shooting guards in the country. After playing a year for Overtime Elite, he enrolled at Arkansas, arriving as ESPN’s number three point guard in the country and one of the most polished shooters in the 2026 class.
His freshman season in Fayetteville validated the hype. Thomas averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in 30.5 minutes, shooting 43% from the field, 42% from three, and 84% from the free throw line. He was a key piece alongside Darius Acuff and eventually started 21 of Arkansas’s 37 games, earning a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. His most eye-popping number came in conference play: a 48.7% three-point mark in SEC games, an Arkansas conference record.
Thomas was widely expected to be a first-round pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, but the opening night came and went without him being chosen. He didn’t have to wait long into the second round. The Cleveland Cavaliers selected him 34th overall on June 24, 2026, in New York.
At the combine, Thomas measured 6’3″ barefoot with a 6’6.75″ wingspan and posted a 38-inch max vertical.
For Cleveland, landing Thomas in the second round was a win. For the Pittsburgh kid who built his game at Lincoln Park before taking it to the SEC, it was the payoff of a lifelong pursuit.
